In the wake of the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that shook the Washington DC area, the National Park Service (NPS) has temporarily closed the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Jefferson Memorial.

The monuments were evacuated of visitors after the quake. No injuries were reported.
